With the continuous development of society, the Internet has also made considerable development. As a new social media platform, micro-blog has a huge influence in today’s Journalism and social interaction with its unique context of fragmentation, the spread of fission, and production of personal news.However, for the college students, there are both advantages and disadvantages in the using of micro-blog. With the explosion of We Media, micro-blog offers possibilities for college students to find their way to communicate and express themselves, but some of them get lost in the ocean of meaningless information and over-expression.Micro-blog is not only spreading and creating discourse, but also disciplining and affecting the people using it with the discourse power. College students’ discourse power in the age of micro-blog not only reflects the discourse competition among students, faculty and university, but also reflects the inequality’ among citizen groups’ discourse. The coming of a new age will put forward new challenges to education, as well as the age of micro-blog. Since the new social media platform has given chances for college students to express and communicate, the change of social interaction has made college students’ life free and influential and the reconstruction of public sphere has improved the college students’ motivation and willingness of democratic participation.How to develop college students’ subject consciousness, responsibility consciousness and desire of participation and to help them use their discourse power independently and rationally in the age of micro-blog are the new challenges facing the instructors today. To cultivate citizen consciousness and execute citizen education is imperative and necessary.This article describes the status and construction of college students’ discourse power in the age of micro-blog, reconsider the ways to develop it as well as the students’ subjectivity consciousness and sense of participation.It is not only the demand of modern society, but also the ultimate goal of education.With multiple research perspectives, this research analyzes the impact of micro-blog use on college students. Education strategies and recommendations are given for instructors, faculty and students in using micro-blog to extend the college students’ discourse power and to develop their consciousness of citizenship.
