The process industry producing is an important pillar of economic development for modern social, for that its products cover various fields of human production and life, which has become an essential part for human beings. However, how to realize the process control and safety monitoring effectively while equipments are running, is a main point the production enterprises, and even the social concerned. The checking mode of artificially stopping equipments regularly is no longer suitable for the needs of automated continuous production system; and more, the traditional wired sensor monitoring and control systems exist weaknesses such as complicated wiring and difficult maintenance, are also difficult to meet the needs in special production environment gradually. However, the practical applications have highlighted WSN’s great potentials in many fields along with its research and development.In this paper, the technology and method of real-time monitoring for chemical equipment running conditions has been studied, and preliminary designed and developed a supervisory control and data acquisition system for chemical equipment running condition based on WSN with applying advanced wireless sensor network technology and computer measuring technology. Using WSN instead of traditional wired sensor measurement and control system, the system combing with functions of data acquisition, data analysis and processing, real-time waveform display and remote data sharing, which could meet the needs of real-time monitoring for chemical equipment running conditions.In this paper, the study could be summarized as follows:1. It summarized the present research and application status of equipment condition monitoring technology and wireless sensor network technology, put forward a monitoring system for chemical equipments combined WSN with wired Ethernet, and discussed the overall framework of this heterogeneous network. Then according to the structure, it analyzed the functions of each part and their realization. Moreover, some key techniques like system routing algorithm as well as communication capability of field sensor nodes was discussed and analyzed.2. According to the function, it classified the equipments of WSN into two types, that is field sensor nodes and workshop gateway node. Then it analyzed and designed the functions of hardwares and softwares of the two types and their realization. Moreover, using Zigbee technology to achieve the establishment of self-organizing wireless sensor network based on Zigbee protocol, and also the indoor temperature data acquisition function. 3. According to the overall framework of the chemical equipment condition monitoring system, the software platform system of monitoring center PC based on virtual instrument software named Lab VIEW2011was designed. Then in order to verify the system, an analog signal was used to emulate the functions of collect, display, analysis, storage, remote data sharing and publishing of equipment condition data uploaded from the gateway device.4. To analyze the significance of data fusion for wireless sensor networks which with limited resources. Combing with simulation data, it took a multi-sensor data fusion analysis through using batch estimate with weighted average method and through the Haar wavelet transform algorithm. At last, it discussed the data fusion’s effects on obtaining more accurate sensor sampling values, reducing data traffic and reducing or eliminating the external interference.
