With the increasing demand for target detection, the traditional limitations of asingle detection mode has become increasingly evident. Gain modulation laser radarcan not only provide an intensity image, but also can provide range image with highlongitudinal and transverse resolution by the way of calculating two intensity image.However,detection is realized by means of receiving the target scattering of laserpulses emitted by laser radar. As an active model sensor, Laser radar is not suitablefor large range scan due to its low concealment. Passive infrared detection is amethod of passive imaging which use infrared radiation emitted by object itself toform image. While it has the advantages of far operating distance, strongconcealment and all-day operations, the shortcomings are obvious, such as bluredge, low signal-to-noise ratio and unable to get accurate range information.Therefore, combining laser active detection with passive infrared detection is thenew idea of effective detection.This paper studied the the images simulation principle of gain modulation laserradar system and passive infrared system. In this paper, the simulation images ofsky target and ground target were obtained respectively and the main characteristicsof active images and passive images were analyzed. The active and passive imageswere preprocessed by using median filtering and gradient inverse weighting filter,respectively. With the manually selecting control points method and based on imagefeature points combining based on mutual information method, we obtained theregistration passive infrared images. Then in the use of wavelet-based image fusionmethod, laser radar constant gain intensity images was fused with passive infraredimage, with the image fusion evaluation results. Then with the laser radar rangeimage fusion, ultimately we get four-dimensional (three-dimensional coordinatesand relative intensities) fused image.This paper studies the active and passive image registration and fusion, usinglaser radar constant gain intensity image to suppress the background of laser radarrange image in order to achieve effective distance of the target partition. Throughregistration and fusion of infrared information, high-resolution information, andrange information of the target together, for subsequent target identification,tracking provides complete, reliable, comprehensive information.
