As the value goal identified by social collective, social imagery is thesubjective “mapping” of social existence that formed by social people which basedon their interests in the long-term social practice. Accompanied by the migrationthat people migrated from real world to the online world, social imagery formed asonline social imagery in the network society. The tendentious attitudes and opinionsexpressed the public for a social event in the network society are online publicopinion, and constitute the important content of online social imagery. Visualizingonline public opinion, the representation of online social imagery, could provideintuitive and real-time information reference for users to monitor online publicopinion, thus to construct the harmonious society.The emergence and development of online public opinion performed in twodimensions. One is region dimension. People in different regions have differentattitudes towards the same social event. The other is time dimension. Online publicopinion could change over time. Taking Tianya Forum as researching case, thevisualization design of online public opinion performs online public opinion inregion and time dimensions, adopts color and shape to present public opinion results,applies the fluid motion to show the duration of public opinion, uses XMLcommunications to achieve real-time rendering of public opinion results, and makesuse of Away3D to express three-dimensional form. Thus, the visualization design ofonline public opinion achieve the effects that users could directly obtain onlinepublic opinion from the3D Chinese map, and choose the calendar button to obtainpublic opinion in different period.Tests in performance and user satisfaction of the visualization design of onlinepublic opinion are the important criterion to measure its usability. Through the testson performance and user satisfaction based on usability testing to the visualizationdesign of Tianya Forum online public opinion--that is, testing the visualizationdesign from effectiveness, efficiency, memorability and user satisfactionaccomplishes the comprehensive measure, studies its usability with the combinationof qualitative and quantitative methods.In summary, visualizing online public opinion is an important part of socialstability introspection. It is favorable to the administrators in government andrelevant departments to discover social problems, and convenient for them to digestadverse effects such as various bias, errors, or even reactionary view with positivesound, and structure positive and healthy social imagery with positive publicity,thus to create a good environment for the public network, at the same time, create a stable and harmonious social environment for the public.
