Compared with platform inertial navigation system, strapdown inertial navigation system hasadvantages with light quality, small size and low cost, which is the main trend of the inertialnavigation system. Navigation algorithm validation and performance testing for strapdown inertialnavigation system is a tedious and complex systematic project. If the test is based on physicalhardware, it will make the system development cycle long and the cost rise sharply. Using computersimulation technology combined with certain physical communications equipment can be a goodsolution to this problem. Under the circumstances, some research has been done on the multifunctionstrapdown inertial navigation simulation platform software.It is very hard to deal with the repeated and scatheless experiments of engineering SINS(Strapdown Inertial Navigation System). According to the characteristics of SINS, a multi-functioninertial navigation virtual simulation platform software is designed and realized. This systemsimulates IMU information, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receiver information andother information based on the characteristics of different kinds of vehicle trajectory. Themulti-function, such as carrier mode selection, navigation information simulation, comparative&analysis of results, and multi-dimensional information display are implemented based on the VC(Visual C++) environment, and the three-dimensional track display and contrast is achieved inreal-time using Measurement Studio Suite’s Graph3D control.In order to transmit the simulation data to the navigation computer for better navigation solution,and analysis the navigation computer and its algorithm performance, the demand for the underlyinghardware communication board is analyzed, the relevant variables file is defined, and the hardwaresettings interface is designed in this paper. Thus, implementation to send data to the navigationcomputer can be achieved in accordance with the particular communication protocol needs, and thenavigation calculated data can be transmitted to the simulation platform software for display,comparison and storage.Test result shows that the simulation platform achieves the functions of data simulation, solving,display, comparison and analysis effectively, and provides data sources for verifying the navigationsystem algorithms. The efficient SINS simulation platform is with the features of easy implementation,easy expansion and high efficiency. And the data obtained from simulation or historical data can betransmitted through simulation interface to the inertial navigation computer to test the simulationeffectively.
