Nowadays, the mobile network and the internet of things are booming. The radiofrequency identification (RFID), as a key part of mobile network and internet of things, hasbeen actually used in many industries, such as access control identification, transportationpayments, goods tracking, medication and payments of mobile. Meanwhile, the security ofsensitive data and the privacy information is becoming a widespread concern as thistechnology develops and promotes. The elliptic curve cryptography is becoming a researchhot of information safety for its excellent security, high processing speed, short private keyand low resource costs, which make it be a best public-key cryptosystem for future.First, this paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the binary method andMontgomery methods of point multiplication from computation cost and resourceconsumption after a comprehensive analysis on the background of elliptic curve character.As well, considering the limited application characteristic of low power and low cost forRFID, an implementation of an improved Montgomery scalar multiplication is given out.Secondly, a low wide bus model is introduced for RFID tag which has a low wide dataexchange, in this way all computation resources can be easily accessed through the bus,make these resources reusable. On the other hand, it will be more adaptable for RFIDsecurity communication.Finally, the architecture of elliptic curve processor (ECP) is presented systematically.In ECP, the modular arithmetic logic unit (MALU) provides the operations of add, squareand multiplication. Otherwise, the variable registers, separated from constant registers,forms in an annular chain structure, reducing the complexity of system. Moreover, a newmaster-slave controller is constructed, so this ECP can meet different level computation onECC through reusing the MALU. Then we carry out a ECP in the binary field of GF (2163),whose result synthesized with HJTC0.25um2.5V2P5M EEPROM process shows that thepower and area of this design is0.42mm2and837.28uW individually.
