Universal exhaust oxygen sensor is a kind of sensor that can improve the combustionefficiency of fuel and control the emission of exhaust in diesel engine and natural gasengine. However double battery panel type Universal exhaust oxygen sensor is the hotspotin research. This kind of sensor gain a limiting current by using a diffusion barrier whichcan limit the diffuse of oxygen. So oxygen can be measured by the limiting current. Thefabrication of diffusion barrier the effect of its microstructure on pumping current are keypoints in this study.According to the diffuse theory, diffusion barrier with different porosities has beenfabricated by varying the amount of amylon and sensor has been fabricated as well. Theeffect of diffusion barrier microstructure on pumping current has been studied by varyingthe amount of oxygen in test gas and the temperature of test condition. Moreover, thesintering process of multi-layers ceramics has been optimized in this study.According to the results the porosity of diffusion barrier increase with the capacity ofamylum linearly. The limiting current of sensor is related to the porosity of diffusionbarrier and oxygen amount of the test gas and has not directly relationship withtemperature of the test condition. Moreover the deformation of multifi-layers can beperfected by improving the rate of firing during800~1200℃and improving thetemperature of co-firing and employ asymmetrical structure.
