Along with the rapid increase of industrial technology and the continuousdevelopment of society and economy, CAD technology received high attention andextensive application in the field of industrial design. Three-dimensional (3D) model withvirtualization, digitalization and visualization, provides a vital basis vectors for CAD andits late product development stage. The growing numbers of3D CAD model provides awealth of reusable resources for product design, and then increase the use of reusableresources in the product design process. It becomes the most difficult research problemsfor designers to find those reuse resources which are easy to understand and have simpleform in a more fully and more convenient way. However, these studies have focused onthe global retrieval, and have less research on partial retrieval. This paper focuses on thisproblem; the main contents of this paper are the following:An interactive method of building partial retrieval model is designed. This paperanalyzes3D CAD model of the whole design features and relations from the perspective ofproduct design, on this basis, we constructed extension characteristics tree of threedimensional CAD model. Since the size and design of each model is different, accuratecharacterization is necessary to its design features and their relation in this paper. And then,build an extension feature tree which support user’s drag and drop to realize the input ofinteractive retrieval model.A matching method of partial retrieval model is designed. This paper proposes asimilarity evaluation method based on matching tree using extended feature tree tocharacterize the partial retrieval model in the library as well as query model which is builtin interactive way. As a result, three-dimensional CAD model partial retrieval is betterachieved.An interactive partial retrieval platform is designed and developed. This paperanalyzes the interactive partial retrieval application requirements and designs the overallscheme of the system. And then studies the key technology solutions and completes thedesign of database. Finally interactive local retrieval platform is realized with theimplements of visual studio. Net2003and ACIS13.0, combining ACIS13.0andHOOPS11.0, verifying the interactive partial retrieval model scheme in this paper as well.
