Wireless Sensor Network is a new technology of information acquisition and processing,which is the integration of sensor, embedded computing, network and wireless communicationtechnology. It can collect and process real-time environmental information, then forward theresults to its users. People from academia and industry pay much attention to Wireless SensorNetwork because of its broad applying foreground in military, environmental science, health andother business areas. At present, the technology is still in the primary phase, so the research on ithas important practical significance and application value.At first, the conception, development and application of Wireless Sensor Network areintroduced. Then, the overall plan is put forward, which includes the function and structure, thewireless communication protocol and programming method. Finally, the hardware platform,embedded programming and PC software are introduced in detail, and the system architecture,programming language and transplant method of TinyOS are introduced with emphasis.Based on Wireless Sensor Network, an indoor environment monitoring system is designedand implemented in this paper. The monitoring system includes three parts: the terminal note, thegateway note and PC software. The CC2430wireless single chip microcomputer is used as thehardware core of the terminal node and gateway node, which is compatible with the IEEE802.15.4protocol specification. The embedded program of the terminal and gateway node is designed in themethod and framework of the TinyOS operating system. The PC software is designed in VisualStudio2008development environment, and it is programmed in C#language. The terminal nodescan sense and collect the real-time indoor temperature, humidity, light intensity and formaldehydegas concentration data, and transmit the data to the gateway node. The PC software can display,store and process the network data, at the same time it has some basic network setting functions.Through the design and implementation of the hardware and software, this paper establishesa convenient, economical and real-time indoor environmental monitoring system, and provides anexperimental platform for the further study of Wireless Sensor Network.Compared with otherindoor environment monitoring systems, this system has advantages of simple structure, lowpower consumption and self-organization. The design idea and implementation method for thesystem is innovative and practical.
