Ontology, a concept originated from philosophy, is a formal, explicitspecification of a shared conceptualization. The incorporation of the concept ofontology into knowledge map can make sure the knowledge map with a standardizedstructure. The ontology-based knowledge map can not only realize the knowledgenavigation and retrieval, and the effective knowledge sharing and innovation; but alsoprovide a solid foundation for the construction of knowledge map and dynamicmaintenance.According to the knowledge nodes, knowledge links, knowledge descriptions andthe five elements of RDF, the paper advances the framework of ontology-basedKnowledge map, which includes the user interaction layer, display layer, ontologyknowledge description and knowledge map resource storage layer. With theconstruction principles of knowledge map, the author then presents the constructio nprocess of ontology-based knowledge map, including setting goals and scope ofapplication, collecting and organizing knowledge, extracting knowledge node,knowledge linking, knowledge visualization, evaluation and maintenance ofknowledge map. The calculating method of concepet and structure which contained inMD4calculating modle was improved. The similarity of domain ontology wascalculated by weighting average values of similarities in four parts---the concept ofontology, structure, properties and Individual.Making autobody as an example, the knowledge map based on ontologyknowledge nodes was established according to the similarity calculating andknowledge structure analysis.To describe precisely the semantics of the ontology, theOWL is employed in the paper to formally model the ontology. The thesis presents theprocess of OWL s specific description to ontology classes, properties and itsconstraints and instance expressions.The Method combining the protégé and OWLwas proposed to constructe auto-body ontology. The author also expounded theprocess of building the auto-body ontology based on protégé, including the auto-bodyontology s classes, properties, and instances added process, then carried on the OWLtext document storage, and finally realized the visualization of ontology-basedknowledge map by means of the protégé s built-in visualization plug-in.
