ModelCheck System Based On Pro/Engineer

In the concurrent engineering and collaborative design environment, CAD model, as the carrier of the design and manufacturing data of products and the connection of transferring information among different individuals, exists in multiple design and manufacturing processes including process planning, product design, engineering analysis, tooling design, NC programming and so on. Defects of CAD model in quality may lead to adverse effects on many aspects such as fulfilling of products’functions, data exchange, management and reuse of products’ data. However, there has been no effective verification mechanism to ensure the quality of CAD model. Therefore, the system to verify Pro/e model is investigated and developed in this thesis, which could reduce the defects of the model, benefit the management and reuse of product data and as well shorten product R&D period and increase enterprise profits.The scheme of model check system is proposed in this thesis. Some key techniques which are related to this system are studied. Object-oriented technology is used to analyze the Pro/e models and inspection rules, and the model of checking rules customization is established. Information constitution of Pro/e model is researched. Moreover, Pro/Toolkit-based technique to extract model information and STL-based technique to read model3D-data are studied as well. The thesis analyzes and researches on defect check algorithm of quality; brings forth a light-tracking based model-thickness check algorithm, i.e. spatial dissection by Octree algorithm, which has advantages of direct view and high speed to facilitate designer to identify defect in design; designs algorithm of check and collection of standards used for parts to assist the corporation in informationization and standardization; analyzes the causes affecting quality of Pro/E model and draws out assessment criterion for Pro/E model, taking the final assessment values as the main reference in Pro/E model audit. At last, it implements research on statistics technology of check result and research on analysis and display technology of Excel-based check result to help the designer know model quality defects and modeling bugs visually.Finally, the interface of each function module of the system is designed, and the system is developed by Pro/Toolkit in VS2005environment based on the foregoing investigation. Besides, each functional module is realized completely, and the system is validated and evaluated according to the implementation in enterprises.
