| During the age of3G network’s rapid deployment, China Unicom’s IP Carrier network is the core of this development. In the future, the IP Carrier network will take over all the comprehensive services, including IMS, LTE core networks. The R99version of the mobile core network and the R4version have become mature. At the meantime, the R5version is becoming mature and evolving to the LTE. For core network’s evolution process, the IP carrying network, high bandwidth, flexibility and high reliability is the key to the success.The mobile core network is comprised of the circuit domain and the packet domain. The circuit domain is responsible for the voice service and the packet domain is responsible for the mobile Internet service. This thesis mainly describes the core IP network’s deployment for R4to the R5version of China Unicorn’s WCDMA system. More explicitly, the architecture of IP carrier network, protocol, VPN and security technologies are studied and analyzed. Secondly, the interface and interface protocol for mobile core networks are studied followed by the development of the VPN and security applications according to these interface requirements. The purpose of IP carrier network is not only to carrying PS domain user mobile data, but also to pave the way for the future LTE network, where multi-media applications, control signaling and data will all use IP packets. Although China Unicorn’s IP network is nation-wide, the construction of the core network has to be based on the feature of each province. Therefore, this thesis focuses on the research and analysis of Yantai’s local IP carrying IP interfaces between the CS domain and PS domain and a core network element.At present, Yantai’s local IP carrier network has been deployed, and the core network interfaces’ IP Engineering (Mc port, Nb port, IuPS port) has been completed, whereas the IP transformation of signaling is still on the go along with the LTE project. Finally, the IP carrier network deployment will enable a smooth transformation from3G to4G networks. |
