Some domestic small and medium steel enterprises has engaged in automationand informatization construction in order to improve production efficiency and enhancecompetitiveness in the market. These companies want to retain the original basicautomation equipment and to achieve the integration of information managementsystem and automation control system without sophisticated second level automationsystem, and ultimately achieve the goal of integration management and control in theprocess of automation and informatization construction. Because on the one hand, theoriginal equipment worked well and still meet the production needs, on the other hand,the replacement of equipment needs large investment and a long development cycle,and affect the normal production seriously.This paper has developed a real-time data communication system solution,designed and developed LF System of MES at the foundation of a domestic steel mill.LF System of MES receive the information of upstream information managementsystem, obtain the production process data from downstream first level automationsystem, and achieve continuous steelmaking logistics together with the converter andcontinuous casting process. its very nature is a real-time data communication system.The communication technology has been compared with the actual situation tosolve the problem of system communication and finally choose the OPC technology toachieve the communication with first level automation system, the database accesstechnology to achieve the communication with before and after processsystem(converter logistics, etc.), the Active MQ to achieve the communication withupstream information management system(quality system), and the Socket networktechnology to achieve the communication with word lattice screen device. Additionally,Windows Message and multi-threading mechanism has been applied to solve thecomplicated problem of communication between communication modules. Theproduction data has been processed and sent to the second level SQL Server databaseserver system through the above technology.The on-line results of LF System of MES has showed that, on the one hand, the system has completed the collection, matching and preservation process of real-timeproduction data LF refining furnace first level automation system, on the other hand, ithas achieved the real-time data exchange with upstream information managementsystem(quality system) and sent to the dot matrix character display. Currently, the entiresystem has been running on the line, stable, full-featured, and reliable, and reaching theactual production needs of the steel mils and has been widely recognized by theenterprise.
