As the experimental teaching is an important part of the teaching and research in engineering colleges, it is very essential to build a good process control experimental platform for automation educating. Combined with the teaching characteristics of Automation and related construction, a temperature control system based on LabVIEW is developed, taking the temperature control apparatus as the controlled plant. The experimental system not only includes the simulation experiments, but also includes the parameter identification, and some advanced control algorithms based on the temperature of the experimental device.A mathematical model of the experimental temperature control equipment is established, and the plant model is given by experimental method and least squares theory with the parameters obtained. Using the experimental system interface; the parameters identification experiment is achieved. The students can understand the settings of system period, as well as the approaches of data filtering and parameters identification, and also strengthen the learning on static and dynamic characteristics of the system.In order to improve the efficiency of experiments, a variety of simulations for different algorithms with LabVIEW is studied, including classical PID, Smith predictor, fuzzy control and fuzzy PID. These experiments can help students to understand the influences of different factors on performance like PID parameters, Smith model parameters adaptation, fuzzy variables, scale transformation and domain, membership function and fuzzy rule bases.Communication methods between LabVIEW and hardware are specially studied, taking the advantage of the hardware in laboratory. The software algorithms based on the devices are proposed, the experimental teaching software is developed for the hardware platform, and the experimental platform is remote published.Students can benefit from the platform to explore the structure of process control system and parameters identification, as well as algorithm research. Making full use of the resources, the experimental system can improve the teaching achievements significantly.
