With the development of P2P technology, a large number of utility softwares have come to use in recent years, which bring an abundance of internet resources to web users. Besides, the resources gain way is very convenient. However, as a result of open characteristic of P2P network, it also brings some width and security problems. Meanwhile, the impact on ISP (Internet Service Provider) is massive, so it is especially important to identify and manage and control the P2P traffic. The technology of DPI is considerable mature and has high precision. It is widely used in the field of flow detection. Based on these characteristics, in this paper a whole framework of the system of flow detection is designed. It is comprised of two modules-flow filtration module and DPI module. The flow filtration module can filtrate certain P2P flow and other non P2P flow with the principals of filtering. It helps reduce the working pressure of DPI module. DPI module uses the technology of picking up the feature of characters and matching algorithm of regular expression. This method can identify P2P flow quickly and conveniently. Moreover, combining the expansion project of DPI of Telecom Corporation in XX province, the current network architecture model is given in this paper. The function of the network elements are introduced, and then the functional modules of external DPI are analyzed. At length, the traffic from the log on the internet is collected and analyzed. From the results of analysis, the usage of P2P applications can be seen. Therefore, the identifying system can detect the P2P flow successfully.
