To greenhouse crops, especially which with high investment and high valuesuch as wild vegetables, fungi, efficient and scientific management is the urgentneeds for agricultural production personnel. But at present, most greenhousemonitoring system is wired system which mostly based on the RS485bus, CANbus, and it’s too complicated to implement, and is too expensive to afforded. So,it couldn’t be widely spread in agricultural greenhouse application. Along withthe development of wireless sensor network (WSN), a new greenhouse wirelessmonitoring system which don’t need field wiring, can be deployed conveniencely,with high coverage rate and low cost is becoming new demand in agriculturalgreenhouse field.On the background of the proposed, based on near field communicationtechnology Zigbee and remote wireless communication technology GSM/GPRSthis paper propose and design a new WSN model for greenhouse monitoringsystem, which is reliable in data transmissing, easyly maintenanced, with lowcost. We establish a Zigbee wireless sensor network, which with one center nodeand many collecter nodes, in every signle greenhouse. And then, every centernode is connected with GSM/GPRS module. After that, a remote wirelesscommunication network is created between those center nodes, greenhousemanager’s mobile phone and the PC with a GSM/GPRS module.This system is divided into4parts: design of hardware, Zigbee wirelesssensor network system, GSM/GPRS remote communication system and databasemanagement program design in the implemention. In the part of hardware design,we designed a main Zigbee data collecter with temperature sensor, light intensitysensor, wireless transceiver CC2530, including circuit design and softwarerealization. Besides that, we designed GSM/GPRS module circuit, LCD modulecircuit and other peripheral circuit for Zigbee center node. In the part of Zigbee WSN construction, besides establishing network and making end device join thenetwork, Z-stack application program, serial communication program, protocolstack porting, cetc, is also be done. In the part of GSM/GPRS system, we realizedthe PDU coding and decoding function, controlling GSM/GPRS module by ATcommand to communication function. In database management procedures, weused MFC, ADO and Access database technology realized the data display mode:graph, list and database operation function witch with friendly graphical userinterface (GUI). In collector testing, Zigbee communication testing, the databasemanagement program display the collected data correctly.System test result shows that, the WSN system which taking Zigbee andGPRS as the core, combined with database management program for greenhousemonitoring system is effective, reliable and feasible. It starts a new stage for thedevelopment of greenhouse monitoring system.
