In the field of laser communications, atmospheric turbulence is considered as an important factor, which affects the phase and amplitude of the light wave, causing the wavefront distortion, light flashes, centroid shift and spot damage and so on. The series of phenomenons seriously affect the system’s performance.In view of this, this paper designed a system which is used to measure of atmospheric coherence length tester using difference method.Paper demonstrated in details the characteristics and parameters of atmospheric turbulence.And compare the method of measuring the atmospheric turbulence parameters. Moreover, The two measurement principle which are difference and angle of arrival fluctuation method are introduced, and discuss system’s technical specifications and overall design, select the system components for different performance.Then quality simulation is carried out for the quality of images using the software of CODE V.The DIMM system has good image quality, high resolution, the all indicators are to meet the requirements.In addition,the advantages and disadvantages of transmissive and reflective structure are compared and analysis, DIMM system is large aperture and observation magnitude is shimmering, therefore DIMM selects transmission structure.Finally, in the conditions of sunny weather, this field testing for the DIMM system is carried out. And get to the target satellite observation data with continuous24hours, based on data draw the curve of atmospheric coherence length. The resulting conclusions is that in the day the atmospheric coherence length is smallest at noon and the turbulence is the strongest. In the year, the coherence length of the longest is the biggest in the winter, This illustrates mat DIMM system for measuring atmospheric coherence length is feasible.
