In the new media era, Internet becomes the main part. Gathering attention is more competitive in economy field. Meanwhile the number of the phenomenon of Western political entertainment is increasing, thus promoting the media environment forming the unique ecology of political attention economy.In this paper, attention economics as a theoretical paradigm to analyze the phenomenon of western political entertainment in new media era. This article generates the development combing and the characteristics of political entertainment in new media era through the observation of political phenomena in Western countries, and gives an argument about its causes and effects. Secondly, this paper research the phenomenon of western political entertainment in new media era spread from the political, social and cultural,and media levels.Through this research, it is discovered that the political entertainment is in essence a result of the western competitive democracy, women in politics, Internet users tend to make political irrationality, and root in certain social and cultural context. The political entertainment is closely related to the playful life style in post—modem society and the formation of national pastime background, and depends on the media entertainment,espceially the new media era, which prompting the political, economic, media attention around the increasingly fierce competition. The number of the phenomenon of Western political entertainment is increasing. This article will provide a very good point of view for understanding the political life in so called democratic country, as well as some political entertaining factors which are appearing in China.
