With the popularization and deepening of network technology and optical communication technology, people s demand for network communication has been on the increase. Nowadays, such demand as the faster transmission speed, the higher network security, the greater network transmission capacity and the diverse transmission forms, has become the focus of competition among service providers. In todays communication field, however, some outstanding problems. including the long period of developing production, being slow in product upgrading, become a weakness of each service provider.Aiming at the current existent phenomenon, combined with application of this professional field, the article puts forward a speedy solution, that is, to develop a hardware simulator of optical transmission equipment. The researchers can find and solve the problems timely in the product development by adjusting hardware simulator and corresponding software testing tools. It can not only shorten the product development cycle, reduce product development costs, but also can provide service for communication network upgrade, optimization.Technical architecture of the simulator is UI layer, business layer and data layer three layer combined closely. The UI layer mainly displays the internal structure of the hardware platform.The business layer reflects the mutual operation between hardware platform and remote monitoring system. The data layer stores all the attribute information of hardware platform. Through the exchange of data between the three layers, simulator implements the simulation function of optical transmission equipment.This paper made a in-depth analysis and research of the simulator, the main achievements in optical transmission equipment platform as the foundation, through to the simulator function, business needs analysis, using JAVA programming technology, realized the simulator platform and completed the function and performance test. This paper describes the whole process of project development, has a certain reference value to the development of other optical transmission equipment simulator.
