With the rapid development of national economy in recent years, people’s livingstandard is improved gradually. Cash transactions are also on the rise in people’s daily life. Atthe same time, the case of making and selling counterfeit banknote is found everywhere.Although banknote detectors are improved gradually, the counterfeit technology is alsoincreased. The traditional anti-counterfeiting technology of banknote based on printingprocess could not meet the actual demands. Therefore, it is necessary to improve theanti-counterfeiting technology of banknote.A digital anti-counterfeiting technology is proposed to apply to banknotesanti-counterfeiting in this paper. The digital anti-counterfeiting technology contains thedigital watermarking and two-dimensional code technology. The digital anti-counterfeitingtechnology is combined with an embedded system based on ARM9as detection device. Thesecurity of banknote is improved effectively.Digital watermarking technology is applied to anti-counterfeiting of banknotes.Banknote numbers are embedded into original banknote image as a digital watermarking,which is scrambled through Arnold transform. According to the characteristic of humanvisual system, the digital watermarking is adaptively embedded in low frequency domain andalso in the position where the wavelet coefficients changing greatly. The embedded systembased on ARM9is used to extract the digital watermarking as a digital watermarkingdetection device. Experiments show that the adaptive digital watermarking algorithm caninsure invisibility of digital watermarking. Meanwhile, it also has a better robustnessaccording to damaging, cutting, noising and so on. Comparing the similarity between theextracting digital watermarking and standard digital watermarking, the authenticity ofbanknotes can be identified.Two-dimensional code is also applied to anti-counterfeiting of banknotes. The codesequence and error-correcting code are generated by coding with the banknote numbers, andthen the two-dimensional code can be formed. The mask code is embedded in banknote.When extracting the numbers of banknote, the fixing graphics can be used to determine thelocation of two-dimensional code and the mask code can be used to calculate the code sequence and error-correcting code of the banknote number. Comparing the similaritybetween the numbers due to the above method and standard numbers of the banknote, theauthenticity of banknote can be identified.The method of template matching is used to locate the banknote numbers. According tothe image preprocessing procedure, binarization algorithm is used to enhance the features ofthe banknote numbers. The feature template is using to match the image of the banknote,which can be acquired by using the features of the banknote numbers on the horizontaldirection and vertical direction respectively. Experiments show that this method can locatethe position of banknote numbers quickly and effectively.
