As the video information content is growing more and more diversified, relevant video technologies have been developed by leaps and bounds, and in particular there are urgent needs in public security and military fields. Based on relevant project as the background, a target image real-time transmission and tracking system was designed, which consisted of a camera, a servo PTZ, a target image processing module, an image coding compression module and a remote terminal. The camera will transfer the collected moving target video information to target image processing module for tracking identification. Then control commands will be sent to the PTA to control the camera to rotate the tracking object, while the target tracking image will be sent to the image coding compression module which will then compressed and coded the image at H.264and transmit it at a high speed to the remote terminal for monitoring the target tracking.In this research, first of all the design requirements of the system was analyzed briefly, coming up with a general design scheme. Then the construction of the system hardware platform was introduced. Next, the main relevant key technologies, particularly the target testing and tracking technologies were introduced. Finally the development flow of two system modules was explained. The two main modules target image processing module and image encoding compression module used DSP-TMS32ODM642and i.MX27respectively as the core chip.The system software development includes programming of module driver, object route simulation, camera control interface of the upper machine and remote monitoring application software etc. The software programs of two major modules also actualized the functions of image tracking and image compression&real-time transmission respectively, both of which were independent of each other. The tracking part of the image employed a method combining connected domain algorithm and template matching together to actualize target detection and tracking. The real-time image transmission part used H.264image compression standard and real-time transmission to achieve Ethernet image transmission.After on-line debugging and tracking experiment test, the results indicated that the system basically met the various function requirements of the project, showing the features of continuous and stable tracking, short time delay in remote monitoring of tracking process.
