Nowadays, the quantity of information to be processed grows with each passing day, thus IT systems face hitherto unknown pressure. How to ensure these data to be accessed faster and saved safer? Such expectations put forward higher requirements for IT system structure, thus storage and backup data in IT system needs reasonable planning and design. However, unfortunately, some IT system constructors still fail to pay great attention to it.In this paper, the storage system and backup system designed is taken as background, and accordingly, the storage and backup technology is studied in depth and in view of the requirements raised for the designed system, the overall framework with high-end EMC storage as the core is put forward. In the design, storage space for different business requirements is matched with appropriate striping strategy to increase the I/O performance of the storage subsystem. With the help of local replication function of storage devices, Timefinder, the system image with BCV volume as carrier and backup source is rapidly generated, so that the pressure caused by the backup is transferred to the non production machines so as to reduce the pressure generated by the IT operating systems. The IT system, the author has involved in, has been running for many years and no disorder has occurred due to the design defects of storage system and backup system which satisfies the demands in performance and security for running of IT system in recent years. The two systems provide useful experience and technical support for the establishment of new IT system.
