In the long and colorful history of Chinese nation, Chinese national vocal art iswidely spread around the country due to its unique style and charm. Being through acomplicated process of development, Chinese ethnic singing has experienced a seriesof changes. As China’s mainstream media and mouthpiece of the Party and people,CCTV witnesses every cultural change in China, no matter great or small, and spreadsadvanced culture across the country. Doubtlessly, as a mirror of culture, CCTVNYSTC (CCTV National Young Singers’ TV Competition) hold by CCTV every twoyear objectively records the development of contemporary Chinese national vocal art,and clearly expounds the changes of contemporary Chinese national vocal music.Starting from the changes of current Chinese ethnic singing reflected in NYSTC, thispaper briefly describes the development of ethnic singing since the first competition.Meanwhile, by analyzing talent show’s definition, characteristics, entry way andinfluence, and combining the author’s personal experience, this paper carries out acomparative study and discusses the influence given by NYSTC and talent show onpresent vocal music teaching as well as the author’s own opinion about thedevelopment of current Chinese national vocal art.
