| The archives literature compilation is the cause which "in the contemporary era that will benefit future generations". It’s also an important way to preserve those valuable ancient materials. China has a history of the archives literature compilation which lasts for about2500years till now. Because of the good tradition in historiography, the archives literature compilation can flourish much better than any other place and get a great scale and result. With the growth of related practice, the theory and methods of the archives literature compilation was gradually occurring. But there was no special view in literature compilation at that time. These thoughts were embodied in the books written by historian and philologist, or in the activity and achievement of compilation. And these thoughts also become the ideological sprout of ancient archives in China.The first part is a primary coverage combing of Chinese ancient archives literature compilation thoughts. In this part, we focus on the archives literature compilation thoughts itself. Distinguishes from common methodology which is focus on the chronological order or individual historian" thoughts, we ignore some factors like dynasty, the worker of compilation, the object of compilation and so on. Based on the general applicability rule, I summarize the primary coverage of Chinese ancient archives literature compilation thoughts according to the rule of compilation, the method of selection, style of compilation, revision, annotation and several other aspects. Search for the similarities and differences of archives literature compilation thoughts in different dynasty based on the related content of combing. After thinking deeply on the reason which causes these similarities and differences, we can summarize the compilation thoughts general characteristic, and conclude six representative characters:contemporaneity, political, succession, dispersion, practicability and limitation. Then expound the meaning and the reason of these characters, take a deeper understanding of the essence of Chinese ancient archives literature compilation thoughts.The third part takes a deep analysis on the impact of ancient archives literature compilation thoughts to future generations, including the impact on preserving and order of historical materials in different dynasty, the impact on establishing and consummating modern archives literature compilation. Expound further on the significance and positive meaning of compilation thoughts in history.This master’s thesis is mainly search on Chinese ancient archives literature compilation thoughts in deeper aspects.
