| Nowadays, the world has entered the21st century, we were greeted unstoppable wave of IT. In the information age, information network occupies a very important position, and the communication network is particularly important. With the rapid development of communication network, access network has become the so-called’bottleneck’of the communication network. Currently, the bandwidth requirements of access network significantly increase, and this bandwidth demand can be expected to continue to increasing in the next long period of time.This paper analyzes the background of passive optical network upgrade and several different existing upgrade programs. Each upgrade program has its advantages and defects. On this basis, we proposed a constant light intensity modulation (PolSK) in TDM-PON upgrade research programs. On the basis of theoretical analysis, our experimental system was set up and eye diagrams were analyzed when the transmission rate was2.5Gb/s and10Gb/s. Also, we measured the BER performance when the transmission rate was2.5Gb/s. Since the intensity of the polarization shift keying is constant, we proposed the upstream re-modulation scheme used in PolSK modulated WDM-PON system. The experimental results indicated that our scheme is a smooth upgrade program from TDM-PON to WDM-PON. |
