With the rapid development of mobile and computer communication, wirelessfield has entered a new stage of growth. The demand of mobile devices is becominghigher and higher, and there is a wide range of mobile communication without basestations. Especially within the recent30years, the development of mobile Ad Hocnetwork has experienced the process of starting from nothing to something, even to awide range of applications.Mobile Ad Hoc network is a wireless communication network with no center,multi-hopping and self-organized, which can build temporary mobile network withoutother fixed facilities. In addition to this, it still has great invulnerability and robustness. The nodes of network not only act as hosts, but also as routers. Communicating withother nodes by transmitting data to adjacent nodes mutually. Aircraft, tanks, mobilerobots and other facilities can be used as mobile nodes in mobile Ad Hoc networks.Although Ad Hoc networks have fulfilled many communication requirements, a lot ofproblems and challenges still exist in the application process due to its networkuniqueness, such as limited bandwidth problem, security issue, QoS protection and soon.Routing protocol is an indispensable part of mobile Ad Hoc networks, althoughMANET working group has published many standards of routing protocols, theenvironmental applicability of each routing protocol is different. If each routingprotocol can adapt to a variety of complex environments, it will be added theappropriate function based on some standards, then make the best effective role. Now, as one of relatively mature protocols, though demand distance vectorrouting (Ad Hoc on demand Distance Vector Routing, AODV) protocol is applied tothe Ad Hoc network, there are still many flaws, such as routing overload and networkdelay large and so on.. Therefore, some improvement methods could be foundaccording to these shortcomings, which will adapt to the Ad Hoc networkrequirements better and better.By analyzing the relations between default parameters ART(Active RouteTimeout) and other parameters of AODV protocol, and find the membership functionof ART, sent control packets, path length and energy of mobile terminal. And then present two fuzzy controllers to control the ART, which makes its value change as thenetwork changes. Simulation analysis is carried out through the stimulation toolcalled OMNET++4.1, which concludes the relative advantages of the traditionalAODV routing protocol on routing overhead and network delay.
