The vehicular sensor network is a fundamental means of information derivation to realize intelligent transportation. This paper studies two key technologies, namely eWTRP (energy-balanced Wireless Token Ring Protocol) for sensor networks which protects steaming goods, and vDD (vehicular Directed Diffusion) which focuses on derivation of sensor data within vehicular sensor networks. The analysis of and experimental comparison between the proposed methods and traditional methods demonstrates that the new methods outperform traditional methods in the key indexes such as time delay, energy consumption and energy balance level. The main contents of the paper are as follows:Chapter one introduces the research background, analyzes the problems existing in the communication network of vehicular sensor networks, and describes the research significance of the key technologies for vehicular sensor networks.Chapter two provides an analysis on the key technologies of the communication network from a perspective of vehicular sensor network application with the focus on the research status of self-protection and search technologies both at home and abroad.Chapter three studies self-protection technology. Based on the analysis of the traditional self-protection technologies, energy-balancing eWTRP is proposed. In addition to protection, system analysis and algorithm design of eWTRP also incorporate channel allocation and synchronization technologies. Detailed analysis of energy consumption and time delay of eWTRP, as well as its comparison with other existing protocols is also made in this section.Chapter four studies the sensor-data searching technology. Based on the analysis of the commonly-used search technology such as directed diffusion (DD) and its improved versions, a new search technique vDD is proposed within this section. With the introduction of landmark nodes, vDD manages to cut down expenses significantly. Finally, a comparative analysis of energy consumption, time delay and other indexes is made.Chapter five verifies the advantages of the proposed schemes through experiments conducted in sensor network platform.Chapter six summarizes the work done in this paper, analyzes problems existing in the paper and outlines the subsequent work.
