In recent years, with the rapid development of mobile Internet and mobile smartdevice, has motivated a large body of research on indoor localization, and indoorlocalization has been an active research. It works in a specific area of interior space,through wireless communication and other related technology, users could real-timelyobtain their current location information with the smart devices. Many domestic andforeign researchers have done a lot of research work in this field to promote thedevelopment of indoor localization method and system. In this paper, we analyze theexisting indoor localization methods, based on the deficiencies in these works,combined with the current development status of mobile smart devices, we propose anindoor localization method just using smart devices and offer two solutions:(1) basedon outdoor assisted: this solution uses the widespread use of mobile devices foroutdoor mobile devices based on high-precision GPS latitude and longitudecoordinates, indoor mobile devices via wireless communications means to obtain thecoordinate and value of the measured RSSI, combined with some other localizationinformation.(2) based on inertial navigation: this solution using mobile smart devicesbuilt-in sensors, such as accelerometer, gyroscopes, magnetic sensors, to completeindoor localization. This paper also attempts to combine the above two solutions toachieve indoor localization, to achieve complementary advantages of both solutions.Specific contents of this paper are as follows:(1) A research and analysis of existing indoor localization methods, pointing outthat the deficiencies of existing indoor localization;(2) Based on the deficiencies in these works, combined with the currentdevelopment status of mobile smart devices, we propose an indoor localizationmethod just using smart devices, which can help to achieve low cost, and does notrequire a lot of prior survey;(3) Based on the method we proposed in (2), we offer two solutions, and applysome existing classical algorithms or improved existing classical algorithms used inboth solutions.(4) We achieve the above two solutions on the Android mobile platform, conducta series of experiments in teaching and research building with collecting data, andanalyze these two solution to verify the feasibility and performance of both solutions.
