The Research And Application Of Block Level Backup Based On NDMP

With the rapid development of society and the improvement of information technology, the importance of data is growing up every day. Data protection becomes more and more important. While the high-speed and global business makes the backup window gradually reduced. How to backup data rapidly and effectively has become the key problem in the area of data protection. Besides, due to giant increase of data, the old way of data management can’t meet the requirement now. It’s been the important problem for us about how to manage data in the good way in order to upgrade the backup speed to meet users’ requirement.In this thesis, the backup protocol NDMP (Network Data Management Protocol) was introduced. We also introduced the backup type of NDMP, then we fully interpreted the way NDMP protocol backup when there existed one or more backup devices directly connected to the data source (through SCSI or SAN). After that, according to the date safety requirement, we deployed one relatively consummate backup system for a company through this way we mentioned and other ways of data protection. After the deployment, we solved the bugs of this backup system and point out more things we could do to expand and focus on data management.
