As social demand becomes more diversify and the specialized production of the enterprise becomes more deeply, enterprises keep a watchful eye on improving the service level while reducing the cost of logistics. For a service-oriented large distribution center to improve their service level is much more important. Because picking operation is the core operation in the distribution center, and costs more than half of the entire distribution center cost, so, picking efficiency directly affects the efficiency of the whole distribution center. And picking efficiency is measured by the length of picking tour or picking time, therefore, shorten the distance of picking tour or picking time is very important for improving the efficiency of picking operations. In a practical application.2-block class-based storage is a form of typical warehouse, so we choose it as the research object. According to the characteristics of the picking operation in the distribution center we discusses the order picking optimization problem, considering that in reality the capacity of the picking cart is usually limited, so we should take this condition into consideration. Establish a TSP model which the capacity of the picking cart is limited, set up a heuristic algorithm based on the GA to solve the problem of path optimization.We design the simulation experiment with Visual6.0C++. Comparative analysis of results between this method and the former ones show that this method has a strong rationality and practicability. Studies in this paper not only more in line with the picking operations in an actual warehouse but also has an important significance in saving cost.
