Research About Chinese Provincial City Scale System

Since the reform and opening up, China’s urbanization process has continued toaccelerate, the urban system also has began to got everyone’s concern.There is a lot ofstudy of the distribution and structure of urban scale,but most studies were based on asingle province or local area, they were concentrated in the urban scale distributioninfluence factors and evolution characteristics, these studies were not systematic.In thiscontext, this article takes the provinces in China as the unit, and select relevant indicatorsto build panel data model, to study the relationship between the city scale system and theeconomic level, then according to the analysis results put forward the correspondingcountermeasures and suggestions.First of all, the paper briefly introduces the urban size system related theory, focuses onthe analysis of the fractal theory and panel data model, analyzes the present situation andthe existing problems of urban scale system, calculates the primary city index and cityfractal dimension of each province, and then carries on the simple analysis, so as toprovide the theory and empirical basis for the research.Secondly, the paper bases on the likelihood ratio test and the Hausman test to determinethe specific models,to establish the panel data model according to1985-2009relevantindicators of each province, and conducts heteroscedasticity test, serial correlation test andcross section correlation test, to analyze the result of model, and find the city systemproblems from the national level.Again, according to the geographical position of each group provinces, and carries onthe analysis of the estimate results of each group, to find the existing urban systemproblems of each area, and then a case study of Shandong province on economic leveland city fractal dimension of Cointegration test and Granger Causality test, the resultsshow that there is the Granger Causality relevance between economic level and city fractaldimension in Shandong province.Finally, based on the empirical study results analysis, in view of the problems of ourcountry urban system scale showed in the analysis,respectively from the national level, regional level and in Shandong province for example and puts forward relevantcountermeasures and suggestions.
