Facing the opportunities and challenges brought by the economic globalization, more and more enterprises recognize that the competition is not limited to thecorporate level, but extends to the level of the supply chain in the current marketeconomy. The nature of competition between enterprises has evolved into thecompetition between supply chains. Under such a business model based on the supplychain, the quality of the final product is constituted by lots of quality links. Any errorin the links will have an impact on the quality of the product. Therefore it is necessaryto study on the rules and characteristics of the quality in the supply chain, and shiftthe focus of quality management from traditional single enterprise-based internalquality control to supply chain-based, focusing on the communication andcoordination between the members of the supply chain, and building a supply chainstrategic alliance. This paper does a further research on the basis of the rele vant literature, combining the new features and strategy of supply chain quality management, thedevelopment of game theory and its application in the field of supply chain research,as well as the related research of reputation model. It uses the methods combiningboth qualitative and quantitative, and makes game analysis on the coordinationmechanism of a supply chain constituted by a supplier and a manufacturer. The mainidea is to build a manufacturer-leading Stackelberg game model and solve the optimalquality control effort of both sides, drawing the conclusion that merely from the pointof view of the economic benefits, the both sides especially the supplier side, do nothave enough motivation to apply effort on quality control. Then it does a furtheranalysis from the perspective of KMRW reputation model, argue that reputation playsa very important role in the cooperation between enterprises. When the future benefitsbrought by the long-term cooperation is large enough, even if the speculation canbring large gains in the short term, the supplier will still choose a high quality controleffort in order to get more gains from the long-term cooperation with themanufacturers.
