Causes Of The Corporate Environmental Information Disclosure

With the development of economy and the advance of human society, people are increasingly advocate environmental protection when we enter21st Century. Global problems become more and more serious, so that people become to change their old ideas and mode of development. Meanwhile, governments and the enterprises gradually begin to pay attention to the development of environmental protection. Corporate environmental information disclosure is an important aspect of environmental protection activities, as it can reflect corporate social responsibility and show whether companies obey national rules to protect environment.We use environment information disclosure data in16categories of heavily polluting industries from2008to2011which is defined by the Ministry of environmental protection in China. This paper researches the influence factors for heavy pollution industry enterprise to disclosure environmental information in China from three aspects, i.e. strength of enterprises, corporate governance and motivation of capital needs for corporate. The results show that with strength of enterprises or enterprise has government functions, it can improve the probability of corporate environmental information disclosure. In heavy pollution industry, with the increase of corporate board size, corporate disclosure of environmental information would become more. We find that when enterprises need additional allotment, companies can improve the intensity of public business related information such as disclosure of corporate environmental information in order to make the placement success.
