Since the1990s, sharp increase has appeared in world population. Shortage of resources and environmental pollution are serious. In the face of such a severe situation, people began to think about how to solve the environmental problems while in the promoting economic development. Ningxia, located in the northwest of China, belongs to the typical resource-rich region.In recent years, relying on the exploitation and processing of local resources, Ningxia has made local economic growth and gained a rapid development, at the same time, this has brought great pressure to environmental protection in Ningxia. Therefore, consideration should be given to the combanition of Ningxia economic growth and environmental quality; it should balance the relationship between economic growth and environment.Based on relevant indicators and data, this paper has conducted the research to the Ningxia in last thirty years of economic growth and environmental quality interaction. Firstly, referring to theoretical knowledge, environmental economics, regional economics and development economics, this study defines the basic concepts of economy and environment and elaborates the related theory. Secondly, this paper describes the economic growth and environment protection in last thirty years on the basis of the actual situation and local statistics. Thirdly, based on determining index and collection of data, the author uses econometric model analysis of quantitative and qualitative to do the research of environmental quality and economic growth of Ningxia. Finally, it gets comprehensive analysis of results according to the actual situation in Ningxia. Measures to local conditions are put forward to promote the development of economy and environment of Ningxia.
