Research On The Influence Of Pharmaceutical Industry Structure And Other Relevant Factors On Medical Innovation

Currently, the Chinese pharmaceutical industry is still based on the genericmedicine production. But the truly new drug which is new chemical entities isminimal. Therefore, it is an important problem we should solve is how to nurtureand develop new drug innovation, how to breakthrough in China’s pharmaceuticalindustry production bottlenecks generics cycle, how to enhance its compete-tiveness in the world pharmaceutical market. The focus we should concern on isalso related to domestic academia and government decision-making departments.This study set25countries’ medical innovation as samples, use logic-basedalgebra qualitative comparative analys is method, screen the influence of thesecountries medical innovation related factors, in order to identify prevalent inthese countries and the pharmaceutical innovation that has a positive role inpromoting the key factors for the development of new drug. Then we can use it toreverse the Chinese pharmaceutical industry stagnation to provide practicalcountermeasures and suggestions, and also hope to improve the drugdevelopment factors to contribute to the theoretical analysis.This paper includes five aspects: First of all，the literature gives the basis ofthe ideas and methods of the study in reviews; Secondly, based on therelationship between industria l structure and technological innovation as well astwo dimens ions of the policy environment, this paper combined with thetechnical and economic characteristics of medical innovation, in order to analyzethe key factors affecting medical innovation constructed hypo thesis; Thirdly, theresearch methods demonstrated the selection of countries in the samp le selectioncriteria and the basis for determining the study variables; Again, this paper usequalitative comparative analys is to test the hypothesis which presented earlier,then determine the key factors who affect medical innovation and factorsportfolio, then do some discuss on qualitative compares analys is on thecalculation results; Finally, this paper give some suggestions on thepharmaceutical industry, industrial structure and policy environmentWe learned that based on the study: first one is the pharmaceutical industryconcentration and pharmaceutical market firm size is a major factor in innovation, especially relatively high degree of market concentration is commoncharacteristics in innovate powers, that is, it is a necessary condition forinnovation; The last one is if we ensure a good case of the industria l structure,the strong government investment and new drug pric ing mechanism can lead tothe results of medical innovation.
