Yunnan Urbanization And Economic Development In The Study

The first time when the word "Urbanization" was put on the development agendaof Chinese central government is in the5th meeting of the15th Conference of CentralCommittee. The meeting formally adopted the China’s10th Five-Year Plan document,which pointed out the need to "actively and properly promote urbanizing". After thatan increasing number of documents and reports mention "urbanization" frequently,from which we can see a growing importance of urbanizing is attached to by theadministration. In2012, Mr. Li Keqiang explains how urbanizing process releases thepotential of domestic demand and stimulates the economy for more than one time. Healso stressed that the urbanizing process contains immeasurable power of the futureeconomic growth. In the report of18th Congress of the Communist Party of China,urbanizing is referred as a key process to promoting the strategic adjustment ofChinese economic structure and accelerating the transformation of economy.In this trend, urbanizing has also become the focus of Yunnan government’swork. However, for some natural and social reasons like complicated landscape andvarious of ethnic minorities, the urbanization of the province has not been welldeveloped. Since2000, the province’s urbanization rate has been in the ranks of thelowest level. In this way, there is a great theorial and practical significance in diggingmore about the relationship between Yunnan urbanizing and economic development,trying to find the problems in urbanizing process of Yunnan Province and searchingfor the way to fix those problems.This report has four parts besides Chapter1,"Introduction". The first partintroduces the concept of "urbanizing", and the history of urbanizing in China. Also,in order to show a whole picture of the province’s urbanizing work, there is anintroduction from all aspects of this area, including natural environment, populationstatus, economic development and history. The second part studies the quantitativerelationship between urbanization and economic development. We get the long-runrelationship by Contigration Analysis, and short-term fluctuation features by Error Correction Model. Through Granger Test, we also discover that urbanizing has notbeen contributing much to economic development since1985, but the other wayaround. In the third part, the urbanizing process in Yunnan Province is compared toanother three Southwest China provinces: Sichuan, Guangxi and Guizhou. And reasonwhy the urbanizing process in Yunnan Province is less developed. The fourth part isConclusion Part, there are a number of policy advices for the existing problems inurbanizing of Yunnan Province.urbanization is not only the need of economic development or a tool for theeconomic transformation, but also a help for social reforms and progresses in allaspects. As Premier Li Keqiang said,"there is no precedent of nearly10millionpeople’s urbanizing in the mankind history, if we can be succeeded, the benefit is notonly for the Chinese people, but also the whole world."...
