Research On Open R&D System Establishment For Small&Medium-sized Enterprises

Research and development (R&D) has become one of the most fundamental driving force for the development of modern enterprise. Large enterprises may rely on their own internal R&D operations to become dominant force in technology development and the growth of corporate efficiency, meanwhile, for large quantity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), it’s impossible to operate closely due to their own limited technical resources, human resources, and funding limitations. Cooperative R&D and other open methods will be the only way for SMEs to keep development on their technological needs. This article is starting from this development needs to explore the Open R&D System Establishment for Small and Medium-sized Enterprise.In this article, the author first reviewed and combined the current study and summarized the open innovation theory. then, analyzed the R&D status of SMEs. And tehn, give the construction of SMEs based open innovation system from the resource classification and access, openness to grasp and selection, and the generation and control of uncertainty. At last, the author’s company has been taken as an example.The main findings are:in order to successfully build an open R&D system and mastering of its own technology resources, firms must pay much attention to the relationship between stakeholders in the open R&D system, cooperating with the outer world leading technology companies is one of the most important and prominent features for building Open R&D system. Secondly, interest balance for parties in the open R&D process, which are the main point that enterprise must focusing on, and properly handing will give an effective use of knowledge to build the enterprise technology needs and provid a good foundation to increase the competitive advantage. Finally, controlling of the uncertainty for open R&D process and distribution of benefits among stakeholders at all times is very important. Basing on the above findings, the enterprise can set the binding restrictions through such as technology license, joint development, agreements authorize, directional procurement etc., This will bring great favorite to control capability for SMEs.
