The construction industry is a pillar industry of national economy, under the background of the development of the western region,the northwest construction market has the favorable environment:the sound policy guidance, the high economic growth, and the rapid increase of infrastructure construction. With push deeper into social and economic reform, speeding up industrialization and urbanization process, in the northwest region will further inspire social vitality and development in western China.The study of XB company competition strategy aims to seek for the enterprise development direction and gain a competitive advantage. In May2011, China construction eighth engineering bureau, implemented the strategy of regional integration of the northwest region based on the original zhongjian eight innings that is original northwest company No.1, original northwest company No.2, original northwest company No.3and the fourth one,xi’an managing office of Qingdao company, and set up the present XB company. Before setting up XB, the four companies had some disadvantages such as homogeneity competition, scattered resources and difficulty to form brand, scale advantage and so on, so it is difficult to develop effective business in northwest area with strategy of the northwest of China construction eighth engineering bureau, then in this case, XB company of China construction eighth engineering bureau is formed. After it’s establishment, it urgently needs clear strategic development ideas, scientific competitive strategies, and formulation of sound strategic objectives and strategic plans, based on this consideration, as the enterprise operator, established this research subject.With enterprise competitive strategy as the main research contents, this paper expounds the strategic management theory, which paves the way for the strategy formulation and provides the theoretical basis for it, at the same time, using the PEST method, porter five model, SWOT analysis and other methods, this paper analyzes the macro environment that XB company faces in political, economic, social, technology area and analyses the construction environment, especially careful and specific analysis on northwest construction market,confirming the external opportunities and threats as well as internal strengths and weaknesses the company faces, clarifying XB company’s long-term development ideas from strategic height, including two stages "3+5" strategic goal. Combining the methods of theoretical analysis with empirical research, this article gives a detailed analysis and statement on the internal and external situation that XB Company’s competition strategy faces. Based on the above analysis, the SWOT model is constructed, and it analyses the XB company competition strategy and selection, determines the differential competition strategy, clears the strategic orientation, establishes the strategic development goals, and formulates the strategic implementation measures and it formulates a scientific and feasibly strategic plan for XB Company.Through the study of XB Company’s competition strategy, this paper aims to provide scientific intellectual support in helping enterprises to improve risk-resistant ability and the core competitiveness and to keep the sustainable development ability in the fierce competition, at the same time,it also hopes that it can bring some inspirations to other construction companies.
