In recent years, corporate governance is a hot issues being often discussed. As the core of corporate governance, equity structure is focused on in the academic and theoretical circle. As the frequency of banking crises in recent years, corporate governance of Banks and the relationship between bank equity structure and business performance is a problem worth studying. As the most important financial intermediaries, commercial Banks are very important to economic development role in our country. And with the deepening of the reform of state-owned joint-stock bank in the business market and competition globalization, that commercial Banks are listed and complete the reform of non-tradable shares makes the development of our country commercial bank into a period of acceleration. Therefore, the rationality of the commercial bank ownership structure is a question worth discussed to the listed banks of our country. How to improve the structure of the equity of listed banks and the operating performance of commercial banks has important theoretical and realistic significance to the listed banks.All along, the international researches on the shareholding structure keep emerging, which can mainly be divided into two categories, one is the shareholding structure as an exogenous variable to study its impact on corporate value; The other is endogenous variables, researching on its impact factor. This article takes the shareholding structure as an exogenous variable, studying its impact on banks’operating performance.First of all, in this article we make comparison between the shareholding structures of the domestic and foreign commercial banks. Then, from two aspects:ownership concentration and equity properties, we study the impact on bank performance brought by the changes of shareholding structure.This article uses the statistics of16banks listed on30June2013as samples, with Principal-agent Theory to positively analyze the correlation between the shareholding structure of listed banks and the operating perfonnance, to work out the inverted U-shaped relationship between ownership concentration and operating performance, and the possible impact on operating performance that brought by the changes of equity of different attributes under current circumstance. The paper includes five parts:The first chapter is the introduction that introducesbackground and significance of the research, reviews and evaluates the relevant research athome and abroad briefly, and summarizes the research methods and innovation anddeficiency. The second chapter is theoretical basis that Summarizes and combs the relevanttheory of ownership structure and operating performance of the listed banks, and analyzes theoretically the action mechanism of ownership concentration, the equity nature and equity liquidity to business performance, and lays a theoretical foundation for later analysis. The third chapter describes current situation. During collecting the latest data, this chapter describes the status quo of China’s listed Banks ownership structure for five years and analyzes the existing problem. As the same time, this paper briefly describes the present situation and problems of the performance evaluation system in our country and sets the stage for empirical research. The fourth chapter is empirical research. Firstly, it uses factor analysis that obtains comprehensive performance scores. Then it uses the related data to make panel data regression analysis and explains the empirical results according to the actual situation of our country. The fifth chapter is Suggestions. In view of the above found problems, this chapter puts forward some suggestions of targeted optimizing equity structure that based on the above theoretical analysis and empirical validation.
