Tianjin Steel Pipe Plant is a steel enterprise specializing on steel pipe productionand whose products are widely applied to many sectors. Problems caused by spareparts management have affected the overall benefits of the company, such asinaccuracy of procurement plan submission, unreasonable spare part inventorystructure, larger occupation rate of inventory capital and poor information flow etc. Inthis sense, it’s quite necessary to study and improve the management mode of spareparts to deal with procurement, categorization and inventory control problems of thecompany.This essay targets spare parts management problems as a research object andstarts with the company’s business procedures. Based on the latest advancedresearches, theories and methods of spare parts management as well as specificcircumstances of the company, appropriate optimization solutions schemes aredesigned to achieve more reasonable and scientific effects in spare parts managementas well as more economic and reasonable effects in procurement and inventory ofspare parts. Besides, other issues are concerned such as to improve capitalmanagement level。Considering the problems in purchasing, classification and stock management ofspare parts of the company, it’s necessary to analyze and improve the managementmode of spare parts. Spare parts management plays an important role in theproduction process, which can affect the work of production equipment as well asequipment maintenance timeliness, thereby influence the economic efficiency ofenterprises. In addition to improving the quality of production and controlling theproduct production, spare parts management should concentrate on avoidingrepeating purchasing and overstocking, to reduce the share of spare parts in currentfunds of the enterprise, accelerate the flow of funds of the enterprise, guarantee safeproduction, reduce the number of equipment accidents and increase safe operation life of the equipments. The fundamental issue of spare parts management is to coordinatethe relationship between equipment maintenance and purchasing of spare parts, tomeet the demands of production and equipment maintenance with the minimumpurchase amount and minimum inventory. Therefore, research on the spare partsmanagement, optimizing the funds management of procurement and inventory,optimizing inventory structure, reducing the occupancy of reserve funds are veryimportant to drop the cost, improve the efficiency and tense the financial strain ofenterprises.In this paper, survey was conducted on the procurement, supplier management,inbound and outbound management, consumption, inventory management andinformation management of the spare parts in Tianjin Pipe Corporation to find thevarious problems in the spare parts management. Combined with the actual situationof the company, modern management theories such as comparative analysis,empirical analysis, and system analysis were applied on the problems to find thereason. In addition, work was started with several aspects, which include spare partsplanning and procurement management, supplier management, spare parts inventorycategory management, quota management, to explore and develop a rationaloptimization of spare parts management system to optimize the design and establish areasonable inventory analysis model. Finally, according to the optimization solution,advanced modern science and technology were used to upgrade and improve thespare parts management, attach importance to the timeliness and economy of spareparts management. Corresponding safeguard measures were also put forward onproblems easily occurred in the plan implementation process.
