Economic globalization has brought the labor flowing to different regions, so hiring employees shows a trend of more and more diversity. Employee diversity brings different knowledge and information resources on the one hand, and also it may trigger conflict and communication problems due to discrimination, prejudice and stereotypes. Therefore, the intermediate process of employee diversity is critical. The focus of the previous team employee diversity research was mainly on group interaction, such as conflict, communication and cohesion. Although team communication is the key variable of interaction in diverse team, the attention of scholars paid for it is very rare. Team employee diversity may cause many communication disadvantages, and then may interfere with the team to obtain the benefits of diversity or amplify the negative impact of diversity. This will reduce team performance. So exploring the interaction relationship between team employee diversity, team communication and team performance is necessary for employee diversity management and the establishment of effective communication in diversity background.The previous research of diversity was more focusing on a single dimension of diversity or differences on individual level. While the text argues, the diversity on team level is also a key. As different categories of team employee diversity have different impact on team performance, we select two categories of team employee diversity:surface team employee diversity consists of age, gender and region; deep team employee diversity consists of education, profession and position. Study of team communication was more on just one dimension, while communication is a multi-dimensional variable, so we must consider different effects of different dimensions comprehensively. We choose communication media, communication frequency, and communication type and communication feedback to conduct the study.Through the survey of180teams in93companies, using statistical analysis tools such as SPSS、Excel, we texted the relationship between team employee diversity, team communication and team performance and we got that:(1) surface team employee diversity is negatively related to team performance while deep team employee diversity is positively correlated with team performance;(2) surface team employee diversity is negatively related to communication frequency, emotional communication, task communication and communication feedback while deep team employee diversity is positively related to task communication and communication feedback;(3) team communication media plays a moderate role on relationship between team employee diversity and team performance, as different team employee diversity choose different communication media has different effect on team performance. Communication frequency plays mediate function on relationship between surface team employee diversity and team performance. Emotional communication and task communication play mediate function on relationship between surface team employee diversity and team performance and only task communication plays mediate function on relationship between deep team employee diversity and team performance while emotional communication has not. Communication feedback only plays mediate function on relationship between deep team employee diversity and team performance. Through the results, combined with the reality of existing employee diversity management, from aspacts of organizational culture, training and education, communication media, emotional communication, task communication, communication feedback and individual consciousness, we explore some suggestions on employee diversity management and diversity team communication.
