In recent years, accurate observational data from SNe Ia, WMAP and SDSS indicate thatthe expansion of universe is accelerating, which is not consistent with the standard cosmology.The accelerating universe becomes one of the most popular questions in physics. Severalmodified theories to standard cosmology have been investigated. In addition, currentobservations show that about95%of the energy density in the universe is the unknown darkcomponent. Usually, it is thought that the dark component includes two part: the dark matterand dark energy. Also, the dark component can be considered as an exotic unknown darkfluid.In this paper, we study a unified model of dark matter and dark energy obtained fromDirac–Born–Infeld (DBI) action in string theory. Two accelerated expansions in universecan be unified in this action. According to the constraint results on model parameters wediscuss the evolutions of some cosmological quantities in structure formation, such as thedensity contrast and the growth variable. At last, the evolution of geometrical quantity isstudied to distinguish the unified models of dark sectors with the cosmological constantmodel. It is shown that this unified model of dark matter and dark energy is attractive tointerpret the accelerating universe.
