Shale gas reservoirs have unique geological characteristics and accumulation model, with strong heterogeneity, its resource evaluation method differs from conventional reservoirs. Longmaxi shale gas resource potential analysis in Changning area is the study object. Based on research at home and abroad shale gas resource evaluation method, according to the accumulation mechanism and characteristics of shale gas, six kinds of shale gas resource evaluation method for different development stages of exploration have been proposed, including genetic method, volumetric method, gas content method, EUR method and Delphi method.According to shale gas resource evaluation method,the paper cleared six kinds of resource evaluation parameter values method, and established and integrated multiple shale gas parameters templates. By means of the whole rock X-ray diffraction experiments, organic carbon experiments, maturity experiments, physical properties experiments, nitrogen adsorption experiments, high magnification microscopes and gas experiments, etc., the paper studied Longmaxi shale basic geological features in Changning area. Research suggests that Longmaxi shale buried depth is moderate, TOC content is high, type of organic matter is good, maturity is moderate, and have a good gas generation capabilities. Longmaxi shale have good porosity and permeability, low density, high gas content, and have a good gas reservoir capabilities.Longmaxi hot shale gas reservoirs thickness is20m-63m. According to the exploration situation, geological characteristics and datas in the study area, this paper selected genetic method, volumetric method and gas content method to evaluate Longmaxi hot shale resource potential. Using graphical data values, analog values and formulas values, the paper determined parameters values, and then successively estimated shale gas resource. Analysing the reliability of the each calculation results and using the Delphi method summarized that Longmaxi hot shale gas geology resources is22489.8×108m3, average resource abundance is5.8×108m3/km2, geological resource is3216×108m3. Summarily, Longmaxi hot shale in study area have rich resource potential, and consider that the estimation results have a high reliability and a good application effect.
