Porphyrins research has been a very active area nowadays, and the properties of its adsorption to solid surfaces are important for its practical application. Vibrational spectroscopy of these large molecules is a very sensitive probe of their structure in various types of environment. However, the generally low oscillator strengths of vibrational transitions in porphyrins make their infrared (IR) and Raman measurements at low concentrations difficult.Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy solve this problem. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy overcomes this problem.5,15-bis[4-(N,N-dimethylamidine formyl sulfur)phenyl] porphyrin(MBSPP) was successfully synthesized with [2 +2] method. After coordinated with Zn2+, Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Mn2+ five kinds of metal ions, the six kinds of porphyrins were studied by NMR, IR,UV and fluorescence spectra. When MBSPP absorbed on Ag nanoparticles were irradiated with 514 nm excitation, the raman spectroscopy of MBSPP was detected. MBSPP Raman signal was successfully detected in the low concentration in 1×10-9 mol/L, and it was reaching the level of single molecule detection.
