With the rapid development of our country’s natural gas industry, the pipeline network scale has been increasingly enlarged in recent years. It is important for settling technical problems and management operation to ensure the natural gas pipeline safety and economical operation. The optimization problem of natural gas dispatching program has become a focus for operators, and with the development of natural gas pipeline globalization, such research could be worth more.A good dispatching program could ensure each customer’ demand supply under the prerequisite of safety operation, and also cover the operators’ economic benefit. While recent research both home and abroad mainly focuses on compressors’ energy consumption optimization and peak shaving program optimization, seldom on maximizing operating economic benefit.In this research, natural gas pipeline dispatching program was selected as optimization object to study on the construction and computation method of natural gas pipeline dispatching program optimization model. Based on analysis and comparison to different modeling approaches and optimization methods, advanced artificial neural network algorithm has been chosen to build up modeling approach focusing on dispatching volume of each station along pipeline and pipeline economic benefit. The object pipeline operation status could be obtained by SPS simulation, and the optimized dispatching program could be found by utilizing advanced neutral network to build up a second model and find the result by substituting the relevant model into optimized model. Then the optimized dispatching program would then be used to guide the natural gas pipeline dispatching operation, resulting in significantly enhanced natural gas pipeline economic benefit considering both social and environmental benefit, and making full use of pipeline capacity. Taking the Sichuan to east gas pipeline as an example to show the optimization method in this paper, the results showed that the optimized dispatching program could satisfy the requirements of pipeline safe steady operation. And the economic test proved that the optimization method in this paper could significantly improve the economic benefit in pipeline operation.
