Metal bending has been widely used in our daily life, with automation levelenhancing unceasingly, the control precision of CNC bending machine and requirementsof the calculation accuracy of process parameters of the sheet metal bending becominghigher and higher. There are many methods about sheet metal bending. Because of itsunique advantages and stronger flexibility compared to other bending methods, airbending is currently the CNC bending machine most application of bending mode.Various process parameters is difficult to precise calculation in air bending process, andneeds to try many times of folded plates to determine process parameters values ofartifacts to get higher accuracy.Unfolded length of sheet metal which affects the plate utilization and precision ofbending parts is the basis of blanking and layout. The related process parameters of airbending are analyzed in this paper and the radius R of the circular arc is researchedemphatically in this paper, and found that the radius R of the circular arc is the key factorsof influence on the calculation accuracy of unfolded length of sheet metal. The empiricalequation of R=Kv*V mentioned in the documentation at home and abroad only considersthe effect of lower die opening width V. Coefficient Kvvalues of all countries are different,and the error of between calculated value and actual value is larger, so the purpose of thispaper is to ameliorate the computational formula of the R to improve the accuracy of R.We make a comparison on the foreign advanced numerical control systems and doconcrete tests of folded plate on CNC bending equipment to find out all of the influencefactors of R, and to obtain the approximate calculation formula of R between its factorsthrough fitting and validation a lot of experimental data.There is a lot of research on open CNC bending machine in the domestic, and thelaboratory research and development of open CNC bending machine is based on the upperand lower machine architecture of CNC. We adopt to the UDP communication protocolbased on Ethernet to implement a generalization efficient data transmission method ofbetween the numerical control system and the PC with the purpose of meeting the requirements of high real time communication between upper and lower position machine.
