Methanol is one of most important raw material in chemical industry. The process for producing methanol fromcoal is an important one composed of a series of procedures coal gasificationetc. With the recentdevelopment of coal chemical industry, the increasing yield of methanol make it oversupply, the competition between menthanol producer incre ased rapidly. To sum up, reductionof the cost and energy consumption of methanol produ ction become the focus of current research.Shanxi changqing energy and chemical company’s 600 thousand tons coal-to-methanol de vice has been using such advanced technologies as German Texaco gasification And Linde purification,Switzerland Casale synthesis distillation and Claus Super sulfur recover y. But there are some discrepancies between practical production and data design.Through the anlysis of energy consumption of methanol production and the thermodynamic calculation, this paper presents a series of technological innovations,including the increase of the subline of water gas waste heat boiler, part replacement of the catalyst and improvement the structure of rectification recovery tower. The aboved methods were proved to be effective in increasing economical effect and guaranteing the safe and stable operation of the device.
