2-arylpyrroles are some of the most important fused nitrogen-containing heterocycles compounds, which are ubiquitous scaffolds in countless chemical materials, natural products, and the special pharmacological activity organic molecules. They are widely applied as crucial intermediates for the synthesis of special pharmaceuticals, natural products, BODIPY dyes, ligands for transition metals and anion sensor. Therefore, the methods for the synthesis of 2-arylpyrroles have received intensive attention. In the past decades, a number of methods have been established as alternative methods for the synthesis of 2-arylpyrroles. However, many of the current existing methods require harsh reaction conditions, a noble metal catalyst which are not easy to obtained, corrosive or hazardous materials, suffer from narrow substrate scope or low positional selectivity. Therefore, the development of simple and readily reaction conditions, green and efficient, atom-economical and efficient functional group tolerance methods for the synthesis of 2-arylpyrroles still remain highly desirable for the organic chemists.Ketoximes and their derivatives are versatile building blocks in organic synthesis since their readily accessibility and high reactivity.In recent years, much attention has been paid to the transition-metal catalyzed intramolecular aminations of ketoximes for construction of azaheterocycles. However,5-endo-trig cyclization of ketoximes has not yet been realized due to it was disfavored cyclization pattern according to Baldwin’s rules. Therefore, the efforts to find new catalytic systems for construction of nitrogen-containing heterocycles compounds through anti-Baldwin 5-endo-trig cyclization under mild conditions are still highly desirable. This article will focus on the theme and carry out related research.In this paper, the synthesis methods to afford of 2-arylpyrroles have been briefly summarized. Then, a novel and efficient access to 2-arylpyrroles through anti-Baldwin 5-endo-trig cyclization of ketoximes has been achieved by control of catalysts, additives and solvents under mild reaction conditions.
