Plant fiber sources come from crop stalks, rice straw, chaff and other crop waste, furniture, and wood processing residue. Plant fiber foaming material is green harmless, renewable and reusable environmental friendly material,while it still need to further improve performance in the flame retardant fire.In this paper, to improve the flame retardant properties of plant fiber foaming materials,sodium silicate, aluminum sulfate, borax, zinc sulfate, four kinds of inorganic were used to preparation modified silica alumina sol gel. Text leves determined by single factor experiment, Orthogonal experimental design to explore the preparation of modified silica alumina sol-gel and the significance of the factors. Result addition of water glass, addition of zinc sulfate, addition of borax,addition of aluminium sulfate which influence the LOI of samples,among them addition of water glass was the most significant factor. Best conditions for preparation the foam materials is water glass addition of 27 g, zinc sulfate addition of 27 mL, borax addition of 3 g, aluminium sulfate addition of 6.5 g. By FTIR it’s known that among Si, B, Al3+, Zn2+ and the hydrolysate combination of the chemical bonds was made. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the modified gel was amorphous polymers.Used response surface methodology to calculate the optimized·process parameters of Organic-inorganic compound flame retardant plant fiber foamed material:Modified gel dosage of 800 mL, CP dosage of 36 g, PVDC dosage of 46 mL. under the condition,the samples’LOI is 48.4. As could be seen from the ESEM, fiber surface of the optimized sample was covered by a layer of film and fibers were adhesived to each other forming the 3D network sructure. With the analysis of the combustion performance, quality change, smog parameter, exhaust smoke toxicity and fire performance index, the performance of optimized sample was significantly improved.Explain the recombination mechanism between Modified aluminum silicon gel and Plant fiber foaming material.To investigate the hybrid effect of the two phrases in the material, functional groups in the material, microstructure and t he distribution of inorganic elements on the surface of the material was measur ed by a FTIR and SEM-EDXA, respectively. The results showed that:the che mical bonds Si-O-Si and Si-O-Al existed in the hybrid material and because of their reaction, the inorganic compound SiO2-Al2O3 could be finally formed. T he elements Si and Al relatively uniformly distributed on the cross section fro m inside to outside of plant fiber. Hybrid materials get better thermal stability after being hybridized. In other words, the inorganic compounds interacted with cell wall substances of fiber by diffusion and permeation. In conclusion, Si-Al inorganic phrase can build effective interaction with plant fiber organic phrase.
