Thermoplastic vulcanizates(TPV) is a kind of rubbery material with properties and functional performance similar to those of a conventional vulcanized rubber;it can be processed in a molten state as a thermoplastic polymer. Poly (1-lactide acid) (PLLA) is a biological base material and biodegradable environment-friendly polymer materials.It is derived from natural and is returned to nature. It is the requirement of environment that poly(1-lactide acid) (PLLA) replaces traditional petroleum-based plastic in thermoplastic vulcanizates. MVQ has biocompatibility, and it belongs to the environment-friendly materials, ACM has excellent heat resistance, oil resistance, chemical corrosion resistance and weatherability. Functional thermoplastic vulcanizates,such as conductive thermoplastic vulcanizates, thermal conductive thermoplastic vulcanizates, flame retardant thermoplastic vulcanizates, have emerged in recent years. This study consists mainly with, in this study, based on the excellent physical and chemical properties, MVQ and ACM were dynamic vulcanizated with the bio-based material PLLA to prepare TPV, PLLA/MVQ-TPV and PLLA/ACM-TPV. In addition, the flame retardant PLLA/ACM-TPVs were prepared by adding halogen-free flame retardant.The microstructure and mechanical properties of PLLA based TPV prepared with different formula and processing conditions were investigated with torque heometer, mechanical property testing, DSC thermodynamic performance tests, rubber processing analyzer (RPA), surface tension tester, scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It was found that increasing the cure degree of dynamic vulcanization and introducing the compatibilizing agent can effectively improve properties of thermoplastic vulcanizates. And the formual and processing conditions of TPV with superior properties were suggested.Flame retardant PLLA/ACM-TPV was prepared by adding flame retardant. The effect of different flame retardants on flame retardant PLLA/ACM-TPV’s performance and ability were evaluated using mechanical performance testing, RPA and oxygen index test.The results showed that adding flame retardant material leads the mechanical properties and processing performance decline slightly, flame resistance depends on the the dispersion of flame retardant in PLLA/ACM-TPV.
